Case Studies

What I ran, and what changed

Internal documents and plans stay confidential. These case studies describe what I did, at what scale and when, and what changed as a result.

Benefits and payroll for a multi-state retailer

MiaDonna & Company · direct-to-consumer jewelry retailer · 10–20 employees · 2021–2026

Ran payroll and payroll compliance across five U.S. states and Canada. Moved benefits administration through several third-party administrators (TPAs), covering medical, HSA/FSA and dependent care, and reduced benefits costs in the process. Rewrote the employee handbook, standardizing sick leave, safety and remote-work policy, and administered BambooHR as the HRIS.

A ~$200K flagship store relocation

MiaDonna & Company · Bridgeport Village flagship store

Managed the relocation and launch of the company's flagship retail store: lease negotiation and compliance, vendor procurement, construction logistics and initial inventory onboarding, while coordinating a move out of headquarters at the same time. The budget was about $200K. Construction ran into delays, and the store still opened on schedule.

Finance operations: $60K a year back

MiaDonna & Company · multi-million-dollar budgets · 2021–2026

Audited vendor contracts and consolidated the SaaS stack for $60,000 in annual recurring savings. Automated the accounts receivable workflow, returning 23 working days a year to staff. Redesigned the chart of accounts, improving reporting times and cash-flow visibility for leadership and lenders.

One workbook for a 20,000-person conference

ISTE · international education nonprofit · 2018–2022

ISTE's annual conference drew 12,500 to 20,000+ participants a year, with up to 3,000+ presenters. Presenter, volunteer, staff travel and hotel assignments had been tracked across dozens of separate Google Docs. I replaced them with one automated workbook, which cut duplicate data entry and errors and gave leadership a live view of logistics. I also analyzed 2,000+ post-conference feedback surveys so the team could measure what worked.

Moving a statewide team onto one intranet during COVID

Statewide healthcare nonprofit · ~15–20 staff · 2020

When the pandemic sent staff home, I migrated the organization from local servers to Microsoft Teams and SharePoint and built a central intranet hub. I also ran the RFP to select a new IT managed service provider, and wrote a 40-page Remote Work Manual so staff could onboard and work remotely.
